The tree-toad's a town crier With faint and rusty bell That throught long summer evenings Rings out a far "All's well." And from the swampy thicket The frogs croak, like a score Of old men gatherd nightly About some village store.
But shrill as ancient fiddle Beneath a blindman's bow Crckets and grasshoppers must play The only tune they know.
